ModernGear Women: romping around

As I established yesterday, rompers for kids are adorable. They are known for being baby- friendly - models with snaps at the leg and crotch make diapers easily accessible, and the piece of clothing is comfortable and cute for toddlers.
The romper is also sometimes called a jumper, or a onesie...but the unfortunate thing is that those names are not just for the baby and toddler versions - they're also for those designed for women.

And that is one of the reasons why I am torn about whether or not this article of clothing might just be best left to babies and kids. As comfortable as they look, I just could not imagine wearing something that is un-ironically referred to as a romper, a jumper, or a onesie. Clearly some celebrities are not as confused about the issue when it comes to choosing event attire:

Mary Kate Olsen

Nicole Richie

Rihanna

Sienna Miller

Blake Lively

Selma Blair
Leighton Meester

They look quite comfortable, but I just have a few qualms about this trend. Like the aforementioned kiddy-terms used to describe the piece of clothing...but then also the fact that the diaper-accessible mode stops at about size 2T (toddler). It just begs certain questions, like, what happens when you have to go to the washroom? Consider public washrooms - I certainly don't want to be dragging any part of my outfit on that floor.

Anyway, I might not be able to wrap my head around rompers for adult women but if you're daring enough to try the trend out, there are some really darn cute options available now.

I'm not sure that the romper is something I'd wear to a dressy event, but there are a few options above that I think would be really super cute on a hot summer day. And it's nice that you don't really have to suck in your tummy in one! I am just not sure about that bathroom issue, though. And I'm not sure I even know how to romp. Perhaps this is a trend better left to those in the "under-30 and nubile" category.

What do you think?

Yup, babies and toddlers, only, please. I think if you are old enough to go to the potty on your own, you should also be able to wear "big girl" clothes!!! ;)

It *is* kind of cute, and maybe comfortable, but I am fully with you regarding the whole bathroom issue; especially when traveling, you never know...
