ModernGear Food: We're jammin'

Culinarily (is that a word?)-speaking, there are some products that just should not be:

But I'm more against the actual constituents of the above products (Cool Whip is NOT whipped cream but rather a petroleum by-product, and what in the world do you have to do to cheese to get it into a can that can sit on a shelf for years and conceivably still be used? ) than the packaging.

Sometimes the same thing in a new package can be a real conversation-starter. Imagine, for instance, being invited for brunch to your friend's house and being served a cappuccino, fresh fruit salad, a croissant, and...jam in a tube. I can imagine you'd have something new to talk about.
The Gouash Strawberry Spread is from Montreal's La Tomate...oh those crazy French! Their online La Tomate Boutique features the categories of "products in jars" and "products in tubes".

Now, you might think jam in a tube is a just a gimmick but I can personally attest to the wonderfully flavour of the Strawberry Spread. Less jammy than my favourite Bonne Maman...

...the spread is more fruity than sugary sweet, and would be equally nice on ice cream or brie as that brunch croissant.

They also offer a few savoury options such as Spicy Tomato and Pepper Jelly, and Sundried Tomato and Port Jelly.

The only problem I can see with these products is that they might become yet another thing to bicker over with family members as the "Who's squeezing the tube from the middle again?" debate carries on from the bathroom to the kitchen.

I think I would just want to display these in my kitchen! I would hate to use them! :)

I know! The strawberry one I bought to test was so delicious but I felt terrible to squish the tube - so pretty!
