ModernGear Women: Velour Tracksuits: Really??

So I was scanning through my e-mails this morning when something I read caused me to pause and ask, "Really??" Here are the two words that made me scratch my head: velour sweatsuit.

You can get them monogrammed now, dontcha know.

Really?

As I was reading, the barrage of internal questioning started along the lines of: Were those ever really fashionable and Are they really STILL a thing you'd want to be seen in? I'm curious as to what you think.

  • Yay! They're fun, flattering and easy to wear.
  • Nay - never in a million years. Would have never.
  • Nay - been there, done that, let it die.
  • They should never have existed.

I just couldn't and can't do it. More than the fabric or the gaudy colours, I think what turns me off the most is the matchy-matchy. Maybe a velour hoody in a more staid colour choice would be just fine.

Aaah, who am I kidding. Step away from the velour. Seriously. It's time to let it go.

Hi Ambika, thank you for visiting!

Yes, at the airport! I was searching for a picture of Paris Hilton in one of these monstrosities, as i remember seeing her in one...the pants were so long they were dragging on the ground and getting dirty and worn. Yech.

I can't believe it but just yesterday I saw three such full sweatsuits in a store window display in the shopping area near me. Well, I won't be going into that store!

But in the end, indeed, to each his own.
